General and Family Dentistry for a Healthy Smile
Regular professional cleanings and examinations play a vital role in maintaining oral health. Gary Arrindell, D.D.S. is committed to providing patients of all ages with quality general dental care to keep their smiles healthy. His goal is to find potential problems early and treat them before they require extensive dental care. To help make examinations and general treatments as comfortable and effective as possible, Dr. Arrindell has incorporated some of the latest dental technologies in his practice.
Professional Cleanings and Examinations
Regular professional cleanings and examinations are important for keeping your mouth healthy. Professional cleanings are performed to remove hard bacterial buildup, called tartar, which is difficult, if not impossible, to remove through at-home dental care. Through regular examinations, your dentist is often able to find and treat potential dental problems before they require extensive care. It is recommended that children and adults have a dental examination and professional teeth cleaning at least twice a year. If it has been awhile since your last checkup, contact Centro Dental Las Americas to schedule an appointment today.
Periodontal Care
Periodontal (gum) disease is an infection of the gums and other tissues that support the teeth and is caused by a build-up of bacteria. Called gingivitis in its early stages and periodontitis in its more advanced stages, it can eventually lead to tooth loss if not treated properly. We offer a range of periodontal care techniques, including deep cleanings and medications, to help reduce infection and prevent the damage that gum disease can cause.
Gum disease affects nearly 80 percent of adults age 35 and over. If you have any of the warning signs of gum disease, such as red, swollen gums that bleed easily, loose teeth, or a persistent bad taste in the mouth, we encourage you to make an appointment for an examination today.
Root Canal Therapy
Sometimes when a tooth is severely decayed the soft tissue within the tooth, known as the pulp, becomes badly infected. To save such a tooth, we can perform root canal therapy, also known as endodontic therapy, to remove the diseased pulp and damaged tooth material. Once the pulp is removed, the tooth will require a dental crown to give it support. Dr. Arrindell is extremely gentle when performing root canal therapy so that the procedure is nearly painless.
Tooth Extraction
In some cases, a tooth becomes so severely infected that it cannot be treated with root canal therapy and must be removed. Dr. Arrindell provides gentle care when a tooth extraction is necessary to ensure that the patient remains as comfortable as possible. When a tooth is removed, he may suggest a replacement option, such as a dental bridge, so that the surrounding teeth do not shift out of place.
Dental Technology
Dr. Arrindell utilizes many advanced dental technologies to make dental care effective and efficient for his patients.
Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera is a valuable diagnostic tool that Dr. Arrindell uses during examinations to find potential problems that may be invisible to the naked eye. The tiny intraoral camera takes high-quality photographs within the mouth. These images are transferred to a television screen in the treatment room so that both you and Dr. Arrindell can view them. Dr. Arrindell can use these images to explain potential problems and treatment suggestions so that you can be better informed about your options.
ShadeVision™
ShadeVision™ is a computerized hand-held unit that allows Dr. Arrindell to precisely gauge the shade of his patient’s teeth and make restorations that match perfectly. This means that your restorations, including crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays, will look natural and will blend in with the rest of your teeth.
Digital X-rays
Dr. Arrindell uses digital x-rays in all of his operatories for both safety and efficiency. Digital x-rays produce 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays, and since they produce a digital image immediately after they are taken, there is virtually no wait to see the results. In addition, this high-quality digital image can show details and hidden problems that can’t be seen with the eye alone.
Computer Imaging
Through computer imaging, you can preview the results that can be achieved with a variety of dental treatments and procedures. Dr. Arrindell will take digital photographs of your teeth, and then use power imaging software to simulate the end results. By seeing the possibilities, you can make better informed decisions about the treatments and procedures you choose.
